Re-re-remembering

When we think about a past event it is the previous time we remembered it that we are thinking of. Memories get overwritten again and again and adapted a little each time. Re-re-remembering portrays this process. The marks and patterns in the work represent each new repetition of a thought, each memory being overwritten and gently blurred into the depths of our past.

Hannah works in drawing and painting, quickly and intuitively allowing the media to dictate the forms of the marks. The driving force behind her work is to portray in a concrete material the intangible that goes on inside her head. Having been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder, she invites the viewer to experience her overworked thought patterns. Repetition and rituals are what take up her brain space and it is these that come naturally to her in the studio.
